Diversity at the College of Medicine
The University of Illinois College of Medicine has a longstanding record of providing access to excellent medical education for students from diverse ethnic/racial groups, religion, sexual orientation, physical condition, and age. In fact, the College has one of the most diverse student bodies of any medical school in the US. Our leadership in regards to individuals from ethnic/racial groups that are underrepresented in medicine continues to be recognized. In its “Top 100 Producers” ranking for 2008, Diverse Issues in Higher Education ranks University of Illinois College of Medicine at #1 for Hispanic graduates and #5 for African American graduates.
Similarly, in its annual rankings for 2008, Hispanic Business magazine ranked UI COM among the “top 10 medical schools for Hispanic students.”
