Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE) Quartile in Class Calculation Process

The calculation is based on objective, standardized tests using the equated correct percentile score *:

  • USMLE Step 1 , first attempt (50% weight in calculation)
  • Weighted NBME Subject Examination score, first attempt, for the six core clerkhips (Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Surgery) (50% weight in calculation)

The quartile is calculated in comparison with peers in the class at the four sites of the University Of Illinois College Of Medicine.

The Quartile in Class Categories are: Outstanding; Excellent; Very Good; and Good.
