Five University of Illinois College of Medicine Community Members Honored at UIC Employee Award Ceremony

Five members of the University of Illinois College of Medicine community were honored with merit awards during the annual UIC Employee Recognition Award Ceremony on Thursday, November 6 at the Isadore and Sadie Dorin Forum.

The Employee Recognition Award Ceremony is a university-wide event where we come together to honor the dedication and commitment of UIC employees.

Merit awards presented during the ceremony include: Award of Merit (AOM), Chancellor’s Academic Professional Excellence (CAPE) Award, Rising Star Award, Janice Watkins Award, and UI Health Recognition Awards.

Award of Merit honors went to Sam Behena, Director of Student Financial Aid and Debt Management within the College of Medicine; Kristy Bushart, Administrative Assistant with the College of Medicine Peoria campus; and Noel M. Pycior, MS, FNP-BC, Director of Student Health and Wellness with the College of Medicine Rockford campus. The AOM honors UIC staff who exhibit excellence in service, commitment, and dedication in their work.

Kathleen Kashima, PhD, Senior Associate Dean of Students at the College of Medicine, was recognized with the CAPE award, honoring her demonstrated excellence, and affirms UIC’s highest regard for the contributions of the Academic Professional community within our university.

Finally, Nicki Bohnker, MPH, Senior Research Specialist at the College of Medicine Peoria campus, received the Rising Star Award. Rising Stars are Academic Professionals early in their career who demonstrate dedication and a quality of performance indicating a bright future at UIC.
