UI COM is committed to reducing the risk of injury and illness related to clinical and laboratory exposures. Please refer to our policy on medical student exposure to infectious and environmental hazards. If you are exposed to potentially infectious blood or body fluids, click the link for your campus and immediately follow guidance there.

Excused absences are permitted for M1-M4 students to allow physical and mental health care appointments. Student Study and Storage Space
UI COM is committed to providing space for secure storage and student study within the College and at clinical sites. For questions about on-campus storage and study, contact your Office of Student Affairs. See the campus-specific information about where to go when you are on clinical rotations.
Peoria
Lockers:
- M1/M2 lockers are assigned by Student Affairs upon arrival.
- M3/M4 lockers for clinical sites can by found on Blackboard: Class Year → Phase 2&3 → General Phase 2 Information → Name of Site
Study Space: Rooms available on campus. Study rooms do not require reservations; however, other rooms may and can be reserved here.
Rockford
- On-Campus Lockers: Lockers are available for students. Lockers can be assigned for any length of time from one day up to the full term. To reserve a locker please email Michelle Tello (mtello@uic.edu) or go to the Physical Plant Office.
- Clinical Sites: Each clinical site has identified secure storage space for students. Please see your clerkship orientation slide deck or reporting instructions for your site to find the secure storage space.
