Our History
The University of Illinois College of Medicine at Urbana-Champaign (1971-2022) educated over 4500 physicians, including students from underrepresented groups in the Urban Health and Rural Medicine programs, who went on to practice in Illinois, throughout the United States and around the world.
The College also founded the Medical Scholars Program (MSP) to train MD-PhD/JD/MBA students to become physician leaders equipped to address the ever-changing environment in medicine.
With backgrounds in the arts, humanities, social sciences, engineering disciplines, and biomedical sciences, over 600 MSP graduates addressed fundamental challenges facing human health, health care, and health policy, with significant national and international impact.
