New Spaces Around College of Medicine Campus Serve Students and Staff Alike

The University of Illinois College of Medicine has recently completed three renovation projects aimed to serve students, faculty, and staff.

A ping pong table and two paddles, one red and one black, which can be found in the new R&R space

The Relaxation and Recreation Space (formerly known as the Annex) features ping pong, air hockey, games, puzzles, and space for yoga. This space also serves a frequent hangout for Pawfficer Ham, hosts weekly social events such as Euchre and other card games, and offers students a space within the College of Medicine to decompress and socialize without disturbing classmates who may be studying. UI COM students were asked to provide feedback on what they would like to do with the space, and the Office of Student Affairs will periodically poll for suggestions. New games and puzzles are regularly being added to the space!

Two sofas and two chairs in the new GEMS / MSTP suite

The GEMS / MSTP Suite recently got a makeover, offering an entirely new study space and kitchen for students in these programs.  The goal for this project was to create a student-centered, academically supportive, and comfortable space specifically in support of graduate students. The revised space features a new lounge with updated furniture, a renovated classroom with brand new audiovisual equipment which can broadcast lectures and events throughout the suite, and a coffee bar to serve students, faculty, and staff alike.
