UI COM Celebrates Annual Research Forum 2024-2025

On Friday, January 24, the annual University of Illinois College of Medicine Research Forum was held in-person for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic. Over 400 entrants and judges from all three UI COM campuses packed Student Center West to share their research, learn more about the work of their peers, and connect with others for future research projects.
The Forum was split into two sessions, morning and afternoon, with submissions split into five categories:
- Medical Students
- PhD, MD-PhD, MS, Combined Degrees & other Graduate Students
- Postdoctoral Fellows & Residents
- Research Assistant Professors & Scientific Staff
- Other
The submissions were judged on the basis of quality, significance, technical approach, innovation, quality of oral presentation, and overall scientific impact. Winners in each category will receive funds to go toward further research, conferences, or other academic ventures.
“Because we are one college but located on three different campuses, the annual Research Forum at UI COM provides a forum for college wide exchange of scientific ideas and for the development of collaborations required for large multidisciplinary science projects,” said Bellur Prabhakar, Senior Associate Dean for Research.
UIC will be hosting its annual Undergraduate Research Forum on Monday, April 21.
