University of Illinois College of Medicine Jumps Four Slots in NIH Awards Rankings

The Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research (BRIMR) recently published its 2024 rankings of NIH awards for individual researchers and academic institutions. All data are derived from NIH year-end composite data for the federal fiscal year ending September 30, 2024, as released on the NIH Research Portfolio Online Reporting Tool (RePORT).
The University of Illinois Chicago came in 50th for NIH funding, a four slot leap from the previous fiscal year. A total of $123,395,260 was awarded to UI COM, marking an $11,209,617 increase from FY 2023's $112,185,643. This increase in funded research proposals reinforces UIC and UI COM's position as Chicago's preeminent public research institution.
