AY24-25 Promotion Guidelines and Forms

The following information is for salaried faculty promotions, all tracks.

Questions about the P&T process for College of Medicine faculty may be submitted through our Contact Us form.

COM Faculty Affairs will hold weekly office hours via Zoom each Thursday from 1:00-2:00pm, starting May 9th through August 30th.  These sessions are open to department heads, paper preparers, p&t coordinators, and promotion candidates.

Special Request Form for Alternative UEOs or Committee Members - This form is required for cases where 1) the Unit Executive Officer has a substantial collaboration or conflict of interest with the candidate, or is not eligible to vote for the candidate; 2) participation in a p&t committee by  faculty holding emeritus status is necessary; or 3) due to the lack of eligible voters, the departmental P&T committee will need to include faculty from other UIC units.  When completing the online request form, 1) for the question "Does the Unit belong to a School within the College?" please select no and 2) enter pmaki1 when prompted to enter a netid for the Dean or Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs.

Monday, June 3,  2024:  Departments must submit their Anticipated Promotion Cases list.

Friday, August 2, 2024: Paperwork due for all salaried non-tenure track promotions (Clinical Discipline, Teaching, Research, Clinical, and Adjunct) from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor and from Associate Professor to Professor.

Friday, August 23, 2024: Paperwork due for all tenure track promotions, including Q contracts, from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor (RT and CT tracks).

Friday, August 30, 2024: Paperwork due for all tenure track promotions, including Q contracts, from Associate Professor to Professor (RT and CT tracks).

The above deadlines are firm in order to provide sufficient time for COM FA and the College Promotion Committee to review dossiers.  Any requests for extensions must be submitted by the department head/dossier preparer to COM Faculty Affairs for consideration.  Normally, no more than 1 week will be granted.
